Reddcoin (RDD) is an open source, peer-to-peer cryptocurrency which targets mainstream adoption of its RDD coin through integration with social media. RDD is popular among internet users as a tipping tool for social median content creators. Tipping using Reddcoin already takes place on such platforms as Twitter, Twitch, Justin TV and Reddit. Reddcoin has the ambitious goal of becoming ‘...the internet’s official LIKE button..,’ where an upvote of Reddcoin results in payment for preferred creators.

Reddcoin was introduced in 2014, and is overseen by Larry Ren and an anonymous team of developers who go by various handles on Reddit. The project changed from Proof-of-Work to proof-of-Stake Velocity (PoSV) in the same year as its launch. RDD coins have an inflation rate of close to 5%, and the 27 billion coins circulating at launch are now numbered at just over 28.5 billion in 2018.

Reddcoin’s target market is potentially enormous, as more and more internet creators seek to find ways to avoid the swarm of intrusive advertising practices that have invaded the web in recent years.
