PSG Embraces Bitcoin as Treasury Asset Ahead of Champions League Final

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has taken a groundbreaking step in the sports world by officially announcing that it holds Bitcoin as part of its treasury strategy, signaling a deeper commitment to digital assets just days before the UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan in Munich.
Speaking at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas, Pär Helgosson, head of PSG Labs, revealed that the club converted a portion of its fiat reserves into Bitcoin. “We allocated Bitcoin and continue to hold it on our books,” Helgosson stated. “As one of the world’s largest football clubs, this sets a new precedent in the sports ecosystem.”
Unlike most teams that have dabbled in crypto through limited campaigns like NFTs or fan tokens, PSG’s treasury allocation marks a shift toward long-term digital asset integration. Helgosson emphasized that the move aligns with the club’s youthful, forward-looking fan base. “Over 80% of our global supporters are under 34,” he said. “This generation is aligned with innovation—and so is Bitcoin.”
This move follows PSG’s previous crypto ventures, including its Socios-powered fan token and a series of AI-generated NFT posters via Crypto.com. However, the launch of PSG Labs in 2023 signaled a pivot toward deeper involvement in the crypto space. The platform supports Bitcoin-focused startups from inception to global expansion. “We’ll build with you, raise with you, and help you go global,” Helgosson added.
The announcement comes alongside news from the Bitcoin 2025 conference that Pakistan intends to establish a national Bitcoin reserve—underscoring a broader trend of institutions and governments reevaluating BTC as a core financial asset.
Bitcoin is currently priced at $105,530, having dipped 2.16% in the past 24 hours
PSG’s next major moment will come on the pitch this Saturday, when the club takes on Inter Milan in the Champions League final, but off the field, they’re already scoring with bold financial innovation.
