Strategy Buys 4,225 More BTC, Pushing Holdings Past $73 Billion as New Funding Plan Kicks In

From July 7 to July 13, 2025, Strategy Inc. (formerly MicroStrategy) acquired an additional 4,225 bitcoins, spending approximately $472.5 million at an average price of $111,827 per coin. The move brings the company’s total bitcoin reserves to 601,550 BTC, now valued at over $73 billion based on recent market prices.

According to executive chairman Michael Saylor, the firm’s cumulative investment—including taxes and related fees—amounts to $42.9 billion, with an average purchase price of $71,268 per bitcoin. Strategy now holds roughly 2.8% of bitcoin’s total 21 million supply, and the firm is sitting on an unrealized profit of nearly $30 billion.

Equity Issuance Fuels Bitcoin Accumulation

The latest BTC acquisition was funded primarily through a multi-channel equity offering. Strategy raised $330.9 million by selling 797,008 shares of its Class A common stock (MSTR). In addition, it raised $71.1 million by converting 573,976 STRK convertible preferred shares and brought in another $15 million from non-convertible preferred stock—444,005 STRF and 158,278 STRD units.

These preferred shares offer varied investor terms. STRK pays an 8% non-cumulative fixed dividend and includes conversion rights, while STRF is a more conservative option with a 10% cumulative dividend and no conversion. STRD, designed for higher-yield investors, also pays 10% but on a non-cumulative basis and includes enhanced accretion prospects.

From “21/21” to “42/42”: A $84 Billion Bitcoin Bet

Strategy’s recent capital-raising campaign is part of its aggressive “42/42” initiative, which targets $84 billion in total funding to expand its bitcoin holdings through 2027. The plan supersedes the now-concluded “21/21” campaign, which raised $42 billion but exhausted its equity instruments.

As part of the renewed push, the firm launched a $4.2 billion at-the-market (ATM) offering of STRD shares and continues to explore new rounds of preferred stock financing. With momentum building, Strategy appears to be doubling down on its long-term conviction in Bitcoin as a cornerstone asset.
