PayPal Launches Pay with Crypto Option for U.S. Merchants, Supporting over 100 Tokens

In a major step toward crypto mainstreaming, PayPal has announced the upcoming launch of its new "Pay with Crypto" feature, allowing U.S.-based merchants to accept over 100 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum. This move marks a significant expansion of PayPal’s crypto offerings and highlights the company’s growing focus on digital assets.

According to Monday's announcement, customers will be able to convert their crypto into fiat or stablecoins at checkout. The service will support seamless integration with leading crypto wallets such as MetaMask, Coinbase, and Kraken, offering users a broad range of options for managing digital payments.

“This is about breaking down global payment barriers,” said PayPal CEO Alex Chriss. “Whether it’s a customer in Guatemala buying from a business in Oklahoma City, our open platform ensures faster access to funds, lower fees, and even the option to hold proceeds in our PYUSD stablecoin.”

The announcement follows PayPal’s recent unveiling of PayPal World, an initiative designed to bring top digital wallets under one umbrella. The integration of crypto payments adds a new layer of flexibility for businesses seeking to expand internationally while reducing costs and complexity.

The broader crypto market reacted positively, rising 0.56% to $3.92 trillion, with trading volume surging over 42% to $174.23 billion. Analysts point to PayPal’s move as a key contributor to the bullish momentum and growing investor FOMO.

The “Pay with Crypto” feature is expected to roll out to U.S. merchants in the coming weeks.
