Bitcoin Stalls Near $64K as Peace Talks Boost Markets but Fail to Spark Crypto Rally

Bitcoin entered the week trading sideways near the $64,000 mark as broader markets reacted positively to signs of progress in US-Iran negotiations, but the world’s largest cryptocurrency failed to follow the renewed risk-on momentum.
BTC was changing hands around $63,996 on Monday, slipping 0.4% over the previous 24 hours and falling 2.2% over the past week, according to CoinDesk data. While traditional markets gained confidence from improving geopolitical developments, crypto investors remained cautious.
The wider digital asset market showed mixed performance. Solana climbed 3.7% over the week to roughly $74, while Tron gained 2.2%. Ether remained mostly unchanged near $1,733. Meanwhile, several major tokens struggled, with BNB dropping 4.2%, XRP declining 4.3% to $1.13, and Dogecoin leading losses among major cryptocurrencies with a 6.5% weekly decline.
Hyperliquid’s HYPE token, which was among the strongest performers earlier in June, also cooled off, dropping 5% on the day despite maintaining a modest 1.9% weekly gain.
Market sentiment improved after the US and Iran reportedly moved toward a framework for a potential long-term peace agreement. The development pressured energy prices lower, with Brent crude falling 1.7% to around $79 per barrel, easing some concerns over geopolitical risk.
Asian markets responded positively, with an MSCI index tracking regional equities rising 0.6% as technology stocks continued benefiting from artificial intelligence optimism. However, US stock futures showed a more cautious tone, with S&P 500 futures down about 0.5%.
Negotiators from Qatar and Pakistan said progress had been made toward advancing discussions, including plans for additional technical negotiations and maintaining communication channels aimed at protecting shipping activity through the Strait of Hormuz.
Still, uncertainty remains. Talks faced turbulence after Iran temporarily paused discussions following renewed warnings from US President Donald Trump regarding possible military action if Hezbollah attacks against Israel continued. Both sides later agreed to maintain communication to avoid further escalation.
Bitcoin has closely followed movements in broader risk markets throughout the latest geopolitical developments, but the cryptocurrency began the week lagging behind equities. The key question for investors now is whether a sustained diplomatic breakthrough will bring fresh momentum into digital assets or whether Bitcoin remains trapped below the levels it reached earlier in June.
