Strategy Buys 334 BTC as STRC Buybacks Top $176 Million

Strategy added 334 Bitcoin last week for $28.7 million, while putting $176.3 million into buying back its STRC preferred shares.
The latest purchase lifted the company’s Bitcoin holdings to exactly 848,000 BTC, according to a filing submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday. The coins were acquired between Monday and Sunday.
Strategy’s spending on STRC buybacks was more than six times the amount used for its latest Bitcoin purchase. The company repurchased around 1.77 million STRC shares during the same period.
The different allocation comes as Strategy continues to expand the role of its preferred-stock products in managing its Bitcoin treasury. The company is now asking shareholders to approve changes to how dividends are paid across its preferred securities.
Under the proposal, STRC, STRF, STRK and STRD would move to regular business-day dividend payments. STRC currently pays dividends twice a month, while the other three securities pay quarterly.
Strategy said the proposed change would not alter dividend rates or its total payment obligations. Instead, daily payments could reduce delays for investors who reinvest their dividends while potentially improving liquidity and price stability.
Shareholders are scheduled to vote on the proposal at a special meeting on Oct. 28. If approved, daily STRC dividends could begin in November, with the new schedule for STRF, STRK and STRD expected to start in January.
Strategy’s Bitcoin accumulation slowed sharply during the third quarter. The company bought 7,218 BTC but sold 5,553 BTC, resulting in a net increase of 1,666 BTC. Its holdings stood at 847,666 BTC at the end of September, compared with 846,000 BTC at the end of June.
That represents growth of only about 0.2% during the quarter, a major slowdown from the second quarter, when its Bitcoin holdings jumped nearly 11% from 762,099 BTC to 846,000 BTC.
While Strategy added relatively little Bitcoin on a net basis in Q3, it spent roughly $1.38 billion buying back STRC shares. The company also reported a preliminary $20.91 billion gain on its digital assets for the quarter, mainly reflecting the higher value of its existing Bitcoin holdings.
Strategy’s MSTR shares were trading around $164.60 in premarket activity Monday, up 2.9%, while STRC was near its $100 stated amount at $99.45. Bitcoin was trading around $86,063.
