Strategy Snaps Up $43M in Bitcoin, Boosting Holdings to 640,800 BTC as Stock Rebounds

Strategy has expanded its Bitcoin reserves once again, spending $43 million last week to acquire 390 BTC, marking its largest single purchase in nearly a month, according to a company press release on Monday.
The Tysons Corner, Virginia-based company now holds an impressive 640,800 Bitcoin, worth roughly $73.6 billion based on Monday’s market price of around $114,800 per BTC. Following the announcement, Strategy’s shares gained 1.9% to $294, although they remain 4.8% lower from their late-September high of $314, per Yahoo Finance data.
Unlike its traditional approach of issuing common shares to fund acquisitions, Strategy’s latest purchase was backed by preferred share issuances, signaling a subtle shift in its financing strategy. This method allows the firm to continue building its Bitcoin position without tapping its primary equity pool.
The move comes as Bitcoin trades near a two-week high, buoyed by improving sentiment in global markets following signs of cooling U.S.–China tensions.
Strategy last issued common shares around September 29, coinciding with a $22 million Bitcoin buy, when it raised $128 million and held extra cash for dividend obligations. Since then, the company has leaned on several preferred-share products—some featuring quarterly dividend payouts—to maintain its accumulation pace.
While recent buys have been smaller, including purchases of 196 BTC, 219 BTC, and now 390 BTC, Strategy continues to draw attention from market watchers. Co-founder and Executive Chairman Michael Saylor hinted at the latest acquisition on X (formerly Twitter), celebrating it as “Orange Dot Day” alongside a visual of the firm’s growing Bitcoin timeline.
Last week, Citi analysts labeled Strategy as a “bellwether” for Bitcoin’s broader market trajectory, maintaining a $485 price target on its shares. However, they cautioned that any sharp Bitcoin downturn could amplify shareholder losses due to the company’s heavy crypto exposure.
Even so, the stock’s premium relative to Bitcoin holdings remains notable—trading at 1.16x as of Monday, down slightly from 1.25x a month earlier—as investors continue to view Strategy as a leveraged bet on Bitcoin’s long-term rise.
