Trump-Linked WLFI Token to Begin Trading September 1 With Community-Controlled Unlocks

World Liberty Financial, a blockchain initiative tied to Donald Trump’s family, is preparing to launch its WLFI token on the Ethereum network beginning September 1. The rollout marks the first opportunity for investors to trade the asset since its presale rounds concluded last year.
According to the project’s August 22 announcement, 20% of presale allocations—purchased at $0.015 and $0.05 per token—will be released to early backers. The remaining 80% will not unlock automatically. Instead, token holders will determine the release schedule through community governance votes, a design intended to encourage long-term participation rather than short-term speculation.
Allocations reserved for the founding team, strategic partners, and advisors remain locked under the vesting structure. Meanwhile, investors who missed the presale will soon have opportunities to purchase WLFI, first through decentralized exchanges, followed by listings on centralized platforms that will be disclosed in the weeks ahead.
Previously, WLFI holders could only use their tokens for governance voting. With trading enabled, the project will establish a live market price and broaden accessibility to retail participants.
To facilitate distribution, WLFI has introduced the Lockbox, a wallet activation tool required for claims. Investors must connect and reset their balances through the Lockbox before tokens are transferred securely into it. The system, audited by Web3 security firm Cyfrin, is designed to ensure compliance and protect user assets.
The Lockbox opens on August 25, providing presale participants a week-long staging period before live trading. According to WLFI, this timeline is meant to minimize technical issues and allow all holders to enter the market at the same time when trading begins in September.
