Strategy Adds 250 Bitcoin as STRC Buybacks Reach $192 Million

Strategy purchased another 250 Bitcoin between October 5 and October 11, bringing its total holdings to a record 848,250 BTC, according to a Monday announcement. The company spent $21.5 million on the latest acquisition, paying an average of $86,194 per Bitcoin, including fees.
The latest purchase brings Strategy's total Bitcoin investment to approximately $64 billion, with an average acquisition price of $75,444 per coin. The company's growing holdings reinforce its position as one of the largest corporate Bitcoin holders.
Alongside its latest Bitcoin purchase, Strategy spent $192.4 million repurchasing its STRC preferred stock, known as Stretch. The company bought back 1,932,145 shares during the week, leaving $354.8 million available under its existing share repurchase program.
Strategy Uses Stock Sales to Fund Bitcoin Purchases
Strategy raised approximately $21 million by selling around 125,000 shares of its MSTR common stock through its at-the-market offering program. It covered the remaining cost of its Bitcoin purchase with roughly $500,000 in cash.
The company did not sell any preferred shares during the reporting period. Instead, it continued reducing the number of outstanding STRC shares while adding to its Bitcoin reserves.
The latest figures follow another active week in which Strategy acquired approximately $29 million worth of Bitcoin and repurchased around $176 million in STRC shares. The company also reported a $21 billion gain for the third quarter.
Dollar Reserves Support Dividend and Debt Payments
As of October 11, Strategy held $4.88 billion in its U.S. dollar reserve, which is intended to cover preferred stock dividends and interest payments on debt. It also maintained a separate cash balance of $640.5 million for broader corporate needs, including potential Bitcoin purchases.
Strategy initially established its dollar reserve with $1.44 billion before building the separate cash balance following a $2 billion MSTR stock sale.
The company has also proposed changing its preferred stock dividend structure so that dividends accrue daily throughout the year, based on a 365-day period. Currently, STRC dividends are paid twice a month, while other preferred stock classes generally pay quarterly.
Separately, Strategy has indicated that it could sell up to $1.25 billion worth of Bitcoin under its digital credit capital framework, providing another potential source of funding.
Strategy's Bitcoin Buying Pace Remains in Focus
Strategy CEO Phong Le defended the possibility of selling Bitcoin in September, describing such a transaction as the "right trade" under the appropriate circumstances. The company subsequently continued accumulating Bitcoin, setting a new holdings record with a $143 million purchase toward the end of September.
Despite the latest acquisition, expectations for Strategy to reach one million BTC before the end of 2026 remain limited. Traders on the Myriad prediction market assigned just a 5% probability to the company surpassing that threshold by year-end.
With 848,250 BTC now on its balance sheet, Strategy would need to acquire another 151,750 BTC to reach one million. Its future progress will depend on its purchasing pace, access to capital and decisions about how to balance Bitcoin accumulation with its financing commitments.
