Bitcoin Hits Record $122K as U.S. Crypto Legislation and ETF Inflows Power New Highs

Bitcoin’s historic rally continued late Sunday as the cryptocurrency soared past the $122,000 mark, fueled by soaring institutional demand and optimism surrounding new U.S. crypto legislation.
At approximately 11:40 p.m. Sunday night, Bitcoin broke through the milestone on Coinbase, reaching $122,600—up 3.85% at the time of reporting. The surge marks another all-time high for the world’s largest cryptocurrency, with investors pointing to the sharp uptick in ETF demand and legislative developments in Washington as the primary catalysts.
Over $1 billion in daily ETF inflows have now pushed total assets under management to over $150 billion—equivalent to more than 6% of bitcoin’s total market capitalization. The influx suggests mounting institutional conviction, with many viewing the current trend as more than just a speculative rally.
Much of the momentum has coincided with the start of what market watchers are calling “Crypto Week” in Washington, D.C. Lawmakers are expected to deliberate key proposals such as the CLARITY Act—which aims to define crypto regulation roles for the SEC and CFTC—and the GENIUS Act, which focuses on stablecoin legislation. The progress of these bills could provide the legal clarity institutions have long awaited.
“The move above $122K sets the stage for a potential climb to $125K–$128K,” said one market observer, noting that continued ETF demand and favorable macro conditions—such as a potential return to U.S. rate cuts—could push prices higher into Q3.
Since April alone, spot Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S. have attracted more than $16.2 billion in inflows.
Meanwhile, some volatility is expected in the near term due to geopolitical tensions. Potential trade clashes, particularly involving the U.S. and its partners like the EU and Mexico, may spark short-term pullbacks. However, long-term institutional buyers appear unfazed, maintaining bullish outlooks for the months ahead.
Analysts warn that delays in ETF approvals or surprise regulatory shifts could slow momentum, but overall sentiment remains optimistic. As legislative clarity inches closer and financial institutions double down on crypto exposure, Bitcoin’s upward trajectory appears to be far from over.
