Zcash Developer Electric Coin Co. Unveils Q4 2025 Roadmap as ZEC Soars Past $390

Electric Coin Co. (ECC), the team behind privacy cryptocurrency Zcash (ZEC) and the Zashi wallet, has released its Q4 2025 roadmap, detailing major technical upgrades amid a sharp rise in both ZEC’s price and shielded supply.
The roadmap focuses on four core initiatives aimed at reinforcing Zcash’s privacy framework and enhancing user experience. ECC plans to introduce ephemeral addresses for every swap made through the NEAR Intents multichain protocol, generate new transparent addresses after each incoming transaction, enable Keystone hardware wallet resync, and add Pay-to-Script-Hash (P2SH) multisig support for Keystone wallets.
According to the firm, one such multisig wallet will be used to securely manage Zcash’s developer funds, a move designed to increase transparency and resilience. “This quarter, ECC’s focus is on reducing technical debt, improving privacy and usability for Zashi users, and ensuring smooth dev fund management,” the company stated. It added that strategies would be adjusted as market conditions and revenue fluctuate.
These Q4 updates expand upon Zashi’s recent milestones — including the decentralized off-ramp for shielded ZEC launched on August 28 and the Swaps on-ramp released on October 1. Following the latter, ECC suspended the Coinbase on-ramp in protest of what it deemed a privacy-compromising session-token requirement.
The roadmap’s enhancements are expected to minimize address reuse during swaps and simplify operations for hardware wallet users, bolstering Zcash’s privacy ecosystem.
The timing aligns with a surge in ZEC’s market performance. The token has climbed to around $390, a dramatic increase from $50 in mid-September, pushing its market capitalization above rival privacy coin Monero.
Data from ZecHub shows that shielded ZEC within the Orchard protocol—Zcash’s latest privacy layer—has exceeded 4.1 million tokens, marking rapid adoption since mid-September. Most of this expansion has occurred under the Orchard protocol, solidifying Zcash’s position as the leading privacy-focused cryptocurrency entering the final quarter of 2025.
