TON Strategy Earns Over 3.3 Million TON From Staking as Network Upgrades Boost Scalability

TON Strategy, a Nasdaq-listed firm focused on building a treasury around Toncoin, reported strong staking returns in May while reaffirming its support for major upgrades across The Open Network ecosystem.
According to the company, its preliminary gross staking yield climbed to approximately 1.48% in May, up from 1.39% in April. With 226.8 million TON staked at the end of the month, the company is estimated to have generated around 3.3 million TON in rewards during the period, valued at more than $5.6 million based on current market prices.
The staking milestone coincided with a series of governance-approved network improvements that were activated last week. The upgrades are designed to enhance network efficiency, increase transaction processing capacity, and improve scalability without significantly altering staking economics.
Among the changes introduced were enhancements to smart contract execution, faster block synchronization, and expanded validator capabilities to support higher throughput. TON Strategy said these developments strengthen the network's readiness for large-scale consumer applications connected to Telegram's growing ecosystem.
CEO Kevin Wilson described the upgrades as another step forward in TON's evolution, highlighting the network's ambition to support high-volume usage as adoption expands.
Shares of TON Strategy, trading under the ticker TONX, gained modestly following the announcement and have posted strong gains so far this year. Meanwhile, Toncoin has remained relatively stable despite broader market volatility.
The company, formerly known as Verb Technology, pivoted to a TON-centric treasury strategy in 2025 and has since become one of the largest holders and validators on the network.
The latest developments come as Telegram CEO Pavel Durov pushes a broad transformation of the TON ecosystem through his "Make TON Great Again" initiative. Earlier this month, Durov revealed plans to rebrand Toncoin as Gram, reviving the original cryptocurrency name featured in Telegram's early blockchain vision.
The rebranding effort is part of a wider roadmap that includes lower network fees, additional infrastructure upgrades, and a more active role for Telegram in guiding ecosystem growth. The initiative aims to accelerate adoption of TON technology across Telegram's global user base while reconnecting the project with its original vision.
