Bitcoin Plans a Fragile Rebound as Crypto Market Climbs Back Above $87K

Bitcoin is attempting a cautious rebound after the sharp downturn earlier this week that triggered widespread liquidations across the market.

The world’s largest cryptocurrency is trading around $87,645, up 1.8% over the last 24 hours after dipping to nearly $81,000 on Friday.

The broader crypto market is also stabilizing. Ether has risen 0.5% to $2,834, XRP is up 2.65% to $2.09, and Solana has gained 2.5% to $133. Overall, global crypto market capitalization has increased about 1% in the past day.

Market participants describe the move as a short-term bounce rather than evidence of a durable trend shift. Traders say liquidity remains thin, flows are scattered, and the market is still probing for stable footing as long-term holders continue accumulating.

Caution remains elevated: the Crypto Fear & Greed Index sits at 13, only slightly above earlier readings but still deep in the “extreme fear” zone.

Bitcoin is holding above the $86,000 level, a constructive signal for now, though the market structure is still viewed as fragile. A clear move above $88,000 would help confirm a bottoming pattern, while failure to hold current levels could reopen the path toward $80,000.

Short-term traders remain highly sensitive to funding rates and liquidation clusters, while longer-term holders appear confident that structural demand and network fundamentals remain intact. Institutional desks characterize the current environment as a rotation phase rather than an exit, with ETF outflows largely tied to risk management rather than loss of conviction.

Despite the volatility, the broader outlook continues to favor crypto as an asset class—though the near-term trade remains defined by tight ranges and elevated fear.
