Crypto Markets Rebound as Investors Eye Inflation Data and Regulatory Clarity

Bitcoin and major altcoins are staging a recovery after last week’s macroeconomic jitters sparked a sharp sell-off across the crypto market. With investors slowly re-entering the space, sentiment is shifting back toward cautious optimism.
As of Sunday evening, bitcoin had risen 1.22% in 24 hours, reclaiming $114,738 after falling from $119,000 on July 31 to a low of $111,800 on Saturday. Altcoins followed suit, with ether up 3.12% at $3,549, XRP jumping 6.32% to $3, and Solana adding 1.66% to trade at $163.69.
The recent pullback is widely attributed to a broader risk-off mood following July’s disappointing U.S. nonfarm payrolls report, which revealed just 73,000 jobs were added—well below forecasts. The weaker economic data also weighed on traditional markets, prompting profit-taking across crypto following weeks of bullish momentum.
Despite the selloff, market participants didn’t stay on the sidelines for long. Dip-buying quickly resumed, with long-term holders and institutions appearing to lead the charge. The market continues to benefit from growing involvement by corporate treasuries and traditional finance firms expanding into crypto.
While macro uncertainty looms, traders are leaning cautiously into risk, buoyed by improving sentiment indicators. The Fear and Greed Index has tilted toward greed, signaling a gradual recovery in market confidence. Large-scale buyers are reportedly accumulating again, with hopes for future rate cuts adding to the bullish undertone.
All eyes now turn to the July Consumer Price Index (CPI) reading, due August 12. The data could influence the U.S. Federal Reserve’s next move at its September 17 policy meeting. While interest rates were held steady in July, market expectations currently price in an 80.8% chance of a 0.25% rate cut next.
Adding to the longer-term optimism is the U.S. SEC’s newly unveiled "Project Crypto" initiative. Aimed at updating crypto regulations, the project is expected to clarify token classifications and introduce innovation-friendly provisions for DeFi. Market observers believe this could unlock fresh growth and reduce regulatory uncertainty, strengthening confidence in the months ahead.
