Metaplanet Stock Jumps as Bitcoin Treasury Trade Ignites Global Crypto Equity Rally

Shares of Japanese bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet surged on Tuesday, mirroring a broad rally across crypto markets and crypto-linked equities worldwide.

Metaplanet’s stock climbed 10.7% by midday trading in Japan, extending momentum from its U.S.-listed shares, which jumped 19.17% on Monday to close at $3.12 on OTC Markets. The move followed the company’s recent disclosure that it acquired 4,279 BTC during the fourth quarter, lifting its total bitcoin holdings to 35,102 BTC—valued at roughly $3.29 billion at current prices.

The rally wasn’t isolated. Other major bitcoin treasury firms also posted gains as investors rotated back into crypto-related risk assets. Strategy advanced 4.81% to $164.72, while Mara Holdings rose 6.86%.

The equity strength tracked a broader crypto market recovery. Bitcoin gained 1.37% over the past 24 hours to trade near $93,835 after briefly breaking above $94,000, while Ethereum climbed 1.85% to $3,222. XRP outperformed, jumping 12.45% to $2.39.

U.S.-listed crypto stocks added to the momentum. Bakkt surged 31.47% to $14.79, while KindlyMD—now operating as a bitcoin treasury vehicle—rose 24.38% to $0.51. Coinbase shares gained 7.77% to close at $254.92, supported by optimism around new products and expanding infrastructure-driven revenue.

Crypto mining and hardware firms also participated in the rally. American Bitcoin Corp jumped 13.48%, Hut 8 advanced 13.6%, and mining equipment maker Canaan added 8.7%.

The synchronized move across regions highlights how early-year portfolio repositioning and improving crypto sentiment are once again lifting both digital assets and the companies built around them.
