Ripple Targets $1B XRP Treasury Amid $1B GTreasury Acquisition

Ripple Labs is reportedly spearheading an ambitious plan to raise at least $1 billion to launch a dedicated digital asset treasury (DAT) centered around XRP, according to sources cited by Bloomberg. The initiative, still under negotiation, is expected to proceed through a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), with Ripple contributing part of its own XRP holdings to the fund.

If finalized, the new entity would mark the largest XRP-based digital asset treasury to date, potentially reshaping institutional engagement with Ripple’s native token. The move follows similar but smaller-scale efforts, such as Singapore’s Trident Digital, which earlier this year announced plans to raise $500 million for its own XRP treasury.

However, the DAT model has faced growing skepticism, with firms like Strategy, Metaplanet, and BitMine witnessing steep declines in their market valuations — in some cases falling below the worth of their underlying crypto assets.

Ripple’s treasury initiative aligns with its broader expansion into corporate finance infrastructure. The company announced Thursday the $1 billion acquisition of GTreasury, a Chicago-based fintech that builds treasury management software for large enterprises. The deal positions Ripple to bridge digital assets and traditional corporate finance, enabling real-time global payments and access to the multi-trillion-dollar repo and liquidity markets.

Together, Ripple’s dual $1 billion moves — one in acquisition, one in fundraising — signal a decisive pivot toward institutional-grade finance, solidifying XRP’s role in the evolving intersection of blockchain and global treasury operations.
