Bitcoin Climbs Above $65K as Easing U.S.-Iran Tensions Boost Market Confidence

The cryptocurrency market started the week on a stronger footing after signs of easing geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran encouraged investors to return to riskier assets.
Bitcoin climbed back above the $65,000 mark, gaining roughly 1.2% over the past 24 hours. Ethereum outperformed the broader market with a gain of more than 3%, approaching $1,950. Other major cryptocurrencies also moved higher, with Solana and XRP posting modest advances between 1% and 2%.
The broader financial markets reflected a similar shift in sentiment. U.S. stock index futures moved higher, with contracts tied to the Nasdaq and S&P 500 rising around 0.5%. At the same time, oil prices retreated sharply after fears of further military escalation eased.
West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures dropped around 5% to roughly $85 per barrel, while Brent crude declined 4.7% to $92.19. The lower energy prices helped reduce immediate inflation concerns, improving the outlook for both traditional and digital assets. In currency markets, the Australian dollar and euro also strengthened against the U.S. dollar as investors embraced a more optimistic outlook.
The improvement in market sentiment followed a second straight day without military exchanges between Washington and Tehran. The conflict, which intensified earlier this year after a fragile ceasefire collapsed, now appears to have entered another period of de-escalation.
According to reports, Iranian officials indicated they would refrain from launching additional airstrikes as long as the United States maintained the same approach. While the situation remains fragile, investors welcomed the possibility that renewed diplomatic efforts could prevent another round of conflict.
Lower oil prices have become a key factor supporting financial markets, as they reduce pressure on inflation and ease concerns over rising energy costs. However, traders remain cautious ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy meeting scheduled for July 28-29.
Current market pricing suggests investors see a 36.3% chance that the Fed will approve another 25-basis-point interest rate increase. Any decision that signals tighter monetary policy could influence both cryptocurrency prices and broader financial markets in the coming weeks.
Ethereum's stronger performance also attracted attention, with analysts noting that some capital appears to be rotating into leading altcoins. Even so, Bitcoin continues to dominate the crypto market, holding roughly 58.6% of the total market share. That suggests investors are still favoring the largest cryptocurrency rather than broadly moving into smaller digital assets.
Market participants say a sustained altcoin rally would likely require Bitcoin's dominance to decline while capital spreads more evenly across the sector.
Beyond the short-term reaction to geopolitical developments, some analysts continue to focus on Bitcoin's longer-term price cycles. They argue that the market may be approaching the end of its current consolidation phase, potentially laying the groundwork for another multi-year bull market.
While uncertainty surrounding global politics and central bank policy remains, improving risk appetite and stabilizing macroeconomic conditions have provided cryptocurrencies with renewed momentum. Investors will now watch whether the recent recovery can extend beyond Bitcoin into the wider digital asset market as economic and geopolitical headlines continue to shape sentiment.
