Standard Chartered Plans Crypto Custody Service in Singapore

Standard Chartered is expanding its digital asset strategy in Singapore with plans to introduce custody services for institutional and eligible corporate clients.
The London-based bank said the planned service will support selected cryptocurrencies, stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets. Access will be available to institutional customers and corporate clients that qualify as accredited investors, subject to Singapore’s regulatory requirements.
Standard Chartered pointed to Singapore’s position as a major financial and technology hub as a key reason for expanding its digital asset operations in the market. The move would add Singapore to the bank’s growing network of crypto-related services across several regions.
The bank has also been reshaping its global custody business. In May, Standard Chartered announced plans to acquire Zodia Custody’s custody operations after shareholders approved the deal, while Zodia Solutions is expected to operate separately following the transaction.
Standard Chartered has also expanded its digital asset services in the United Arab Emirates. Its offering there includes institutional cryptocurrency trading and fiat payment infrastructure. The bank recently launched spot trading for Bitcoin and Ether, while an agreement with CoinMENA supports fiat deposits and withdrawals, client money accounts and virtual account transactions.
The planned Singapore custody service adds another step to Standard Chartered’s broader push into digital assets, with institutional custody becoming an increasingly important part of the bank’s crypto offering.
