Bitcoin Surges Past $110K as Macro Tailwinds and Institutional Demand Power Rally

Bitcoin climbed sharply early Thursday, breaking above $110,000 amid a broader market rally fueled by favorable global liquidity trends and institutional momentum. The cryptocurrency briefly touched $110,200, its highest level since mid-June, before settling slightly lower.

Ethereum followed with a 5.6% rally to $2,564, while other major tokens like Solana, XRP, and Dogecoin also posted solid gains in a broad market move.

The rally comes on the back of expanding global money supply, which has historically flowed into risk assets like crypto. Although such liquidity doesn’t always trigger immediate price moves, it tends to support markets over time.

Market optimism was further bolstered by the U.S. finalizing a trade agreement with Vietnam, reducing proposed tariffs from 46% to 20%. The development comes just before the July 9 expiration of a U.S. tariff moratorium, hinting at potential progress in broader trade talks.

Despite holding above the key $100,000 level, analysts say bitcoin will need a more decisive catalyst—such as clear Federal Reserve policy direction or another surge in ETF inflows—to break through to new all-time highs.

Currently, institutional capital is driving much of the momentum, while retail interest remains subdued. Centralized exchange volumes in June dropped to a nine-month low, highlighting the dominance of large players in the current cycle.

This growing institutional presence brings long-term stability and legitimacy to the market—but also raises the risk of increased sensitivity to macro headlines and portfolio shifts in the absence of retail balance.

As liquidity conditions improve and institutional allocations continue, the crypto market appears positioned for continued strength—though a true breakout may depend on how quickly regulatory and monetary policy paths evolve.
