Crypto Exchange Coinbase Is Creating A Film Trilogy for Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT Characters

Crypto exchange Coinbase is gearing up for the launch of its much-awaited NFT marketplace. As part of its NFT plans, Coinbase will be producing a trilogy film series that features blue-chip NFT project Bored Ape Yacht Club.

The three part film will be crafted by Coinbase Entertainment while featuring the BAYC NFT characters which will be crowd sourced from the Bored Ape NFT community.

Coinbase confirmed about this decision on Monday, April 11, saying something was coming. Its tweet teaser notes: “Definitely something. We’re creating an interactive three-part film featuring the [Bored Ape Yacht Club] & Apecoin communities. Come build with us [at] degentrilogy.com".

The first of the three-part animated short films titled The Degen Trilogy,” will premiere in June this year. Bored Ape NFT owners have been asked to submit their apes for consideration as characters in the trilogy.

Speaking of this development, the official Twitter handle of the Bored Ape Yacht Club tweeted: Were stoked that Coinbase is making a film series featuring the BAYC community. Bored Ape NFT holders, submit your ape for casting, details below. Mutants, don’t worry - this is the first film in a trilogy, and you’ll be getting your own casting call for part two”.

Coinbase entertainment and culture marketing director William Swann also expressed his excitement and commitment to the new project. Swann believes that such projects can pave the way for the Web 3.0 innovation.

Swann added: We are dedicated to creating and supporting content projects that speak directly to our community and sustaining the culture of web3 innovation. As we aim to bring the next billion people into the crypto economy, we firmly believe that this interactive film series will act as a catalyst to serve that mission and help audiences understand the collaborative nature of web3.”

Bored Ape Yacht Club are one of the most popular NFTs in the crypto space. Nicole Muniz, the CEO of Yuga Labs, the company that created the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT project, said: Were seeing how NFTs are evolving to be vehicles of access and participation in networks, games, merchandise, and now interactive entertainment.
