Bitcoin Briefly Dips Below $100K as Ethereum Turns Red for 2025

Bitcoin’s price briefly broke below the $100,000 threshold on Coinbase Tuesday afternoon, marking its lowest level since June 23, 2025. The move came amid heightened volatility across the crypto market and coincided with a steep decline in Ethereum, which officially turned negative for the year.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency hit an intraday low of $99,908 before swiftly rebounding to around $100,977 at press time. The flash dip represents a more than 20% correction from its October peak of $126,296. Analysts say the retracement helped flush out excess leverage, though it also reinforced concerns about a prolonged consolidation phase.
Some traders view the $100,000–$101,000 range as a potential accumulation zone, noting that long-term holders have been quietly adding to their positions during the pullback. However, market sentiment remains mixed. According to Elliott Wave projections, Bitcoin’s bear cycle could extend through late 2026 — suggesting the market may endure another year of subdued performance before a stronger recovery phase begins.
Meanwhile, Ethereum’s 7% single-day plunge on Tuesday erased its 2025 gains, dragging the token back below its January levels near $3,353. The synchronized downturn across major digital assets highlights the fragility of the post-halving bull narrative, with traders now watching closely to see whether Bitcoin can maintain support above the critical $100K mark in the days ahead.
