SpaceX Reveals $1.45B Bitcoin Treasury Ahead of Historic IPO Plans

SpaceX has unveiled a far larger Bitcoin position than previously known as the company moves closer to a highly anticipated public listing expected next month. According to a newly filed S-1 registration statement, the Elon Musk-led aerospace and technology firm currently holds 18,712 Bitcoin valued at approximately $1.45 billion.

The disclosure places SpaceX among the top public corporate Bitcoin holders globally, with its treasury ranking seventh based on current holdings. The filing also revealed the company accumulated its Bitcoin at an average purchase price of roughly $35,320 per coin, highlighting significant unrealized gains following Bitcoin’s rise over recent years.

The updated figures surprised market observers, as blockchain intelligence platforms previously estimated SpaceX’s Bitcoin stash at around 8,285 BTC. The newly revealed amount also exceeds the Bitcoin reserves held by Tesla, another Musk-linked company, which currently owns 11,509 BTC.

SpaceX’s expected IPO is already being viewed as one of the largest in financial market history. The company is reportedly seeking to raise close to $75 billion, with projected valuations ranging between $1.75 trillion and $2 trillion. The public offering could provide investors with indirect exposure to Bitcoin through shares tied to the company’s expanding operations across aerospace, satellite internet, artificial intelligence and advanced infrastructure.

The company first entered the Bitcoin market in early 2021 during a wave of institutional crypto adoption led by major corporations. Since then, SpaceX has quietly expanded its digital asset exposure while continuing to scale major initiatives such as Starlink and next-generation space technology.

Beyond crypto holdings, the IPO is expected to strengthen SpaceX’s ability to fund long-term ambitions, including orbital computing infrastructure, global connectivity services and future Mars-related missions. In its filing, the company described its combined opportunities across AI, space technology and communications as a potential $28.5 trillion market opportunity.
