Trump’s 5-Day Iran Pause Sparks Crypto Rebound Plans as Bitcoin Reclaims $71K

Crypto markets kicked off the week with strong upward momentum after Donald Trump signaled a short-term de-escalation in tensions with Iran, calming investor nerves across global markets.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump revealed that discussions between the U.S. and Iran had been “productive,” adding that planned strikes on Iranian infrastructure would be delayed for five days. While not a full resolution, the pause was enough to shift sentiment back toward risk assets.

Bitcoin responded quickly, bouncing nearly 5% and climbing back above the $71,000 level during early U.S. trading hours after dipping below $68,000 overnight. The broader crypto market followed suit, with Ethereum, Dogecoin, Solana, and Chainlink each posting gains of around 5% over the past 24 hours.

The shift in tone extended beyond digital assets. Oil markets saw a sharp pullback, with West Texas Intermediate crude plunging 11% to below $88 per barrel, while Brent crude dropped roughly 8% to near $100. The sudden decline triggered heavy liquidations in tokenized oil markets, particularly on Hyperliquid, where over $62 million in positions were wiped out—mostly from bullish traders.

Traditional safe-haven assets showed mixed reactions. Gold recovered much of its earlier losses, while the U.S. dollar weakened, with the U.S. Dollar Index slipping to 99.3. Meanwhile, global bond yields declined, signaling a broader shift toward risk-on sentiment.

Despite the rally, uncertainty remains. The temporary pause does not mark the end of hostilities, with Iran continuing military activity across the Gulf region. Just days earlier, renewed threats from Trump had rattled markets, pushing Bitcoin back into its February trading range and driving capital into commodities.

For now, traders appear to be seizing on any sign of de-escalation—but with geopolitical risks still looming, volatility is far from over.
