Pi Token Slips Below $1 Despite $100M Venture Fund Push Into AI and Fintech
Pi Network’s bold push into startup investing has yet to stop bearish momentum.
Pi Network’s native token, PI, has dropped over 17% in the past 24 hours, dipping below the psychologically critical $1 threshold. This sharp decline comes just days after the Pi Foundation unveiled Pi Network Ventures, a new $100 million initiative aimed at fueling adoption of the PI token in emerging sectors like artificial intelligence (AI) and financial technology (fintech).
$100M Fund Launched Amid Market Volatility
The new venture fund is backed by 10% of the PI token’s total supply and will focus on seeding early-stage to Series B startups that are building real-world use cases around PI. The foundation hopes that investing directly in PI—not fiat—will strengthen its ecosystem and cement PI’s role in decentralized commerce, particularly across AI tools, fintech platforms, ecommerce, and consumer apps.
While the announcement sparked short-term optimism, it hasn’t been enough to offset growing technical weakness.
Momentum Shifts Bearish Despite Ecosystem Optimism
Despite an 85% rebound over the last two weeks fueled by speculation and Binance listing rumors, PI has now retraced significantly. The token's downward move aligns with tightening exponential moving averages (EMAs), which are now signaling potential bearish crossovers—often a precursor to deeper corrections.
If the current trajectory continues, PI could retest support near $0.90, with potential downside targets of $0.78 and $0.636 looming. However, a bullish reversal remains possible. A breakout above the $1.23 resistance level could open the door to a retest of $1.67 or even $1.798, according to analysts tracking the trend.
What's Next for PI?
The $100 million Pi Network Ventures fund is a significant strategic move that signals long-term intent. Yet, short-term traders appear focused on technical indicators, which are hinting at continued consolidation or downside. If adoption through real-world startups begins to materialize quickly, however, the narrative could shift rapidly.
For now, all eyes are on whether Pi Network’s bet on utility and partnerships can outweigh bearish market signals.
