SpaceX Makes Minor Bitcoin Wallet Transfers as $1.16 Billion Treasury Remains Intact

SpaceX recorded its first Bitcoin wallet activity in roughly six months on Wednesday, but the transactions were so small that they are widely viewed as routine maintenance rather than a sign the company is preparing to reduce its cryptocurrency holdings.

Blockchain data from Arkham Intelligence shows three transfers involving wallets linked to SpaceX, with a combined value of less than $300. The largest movement transferred 0.00213 BTC, worth approximately $135, between two company-controlled addresses. Another transaction shifted 0.00139 BTC, valued at around $89.

A third transaction came from Coinbase Prime's custody platform, which sent 0.000738 BTC—about $47—to a SpaceX wallet. Such small deposits are commonly used to provide enough Bitcoin to cover network transaction fees before larger transfers, although no additional movement has followed.

Despite the renewed wallet activity, SpaceX's Bitcoin treasury remains unchanged at 18,712 BTC, currently worth about $1.16 billion. None of the funds were transferred to exchange deposit addresses, meaning the company has shown no indication that it intends to liquidate any portion of its holdings.

The transfers come only weeks after SpaceX's blockbuster public listing on June 12, which marked the first time the company's complete Bitcoin position became publicly visible through regulatory filings. Since becoming a publicly traded company, even minor wallet movements have attracted greater scrutiny from investors and crypto market watchers.

Analysts note that transactions of this size are typically associated with operational housekeeping rather than investment decisions. Companies frequently move tiny amounts of Bitcoin to test wallet configurations, consolidate funds across addresses, or ensure wallets have sufficient balance to pay network fees.

The IPO filing also revealed that SpaceX's Bitcoin investment is far larger than previously estimated. Before the disclosure, blockchain analysts had identified only around 8,285 BTC as belonging to the company. The filing confirmed the actual treasury contains 18,712 BTC acquired for roughly $661 million, implying an average purchase price close to $35,000 per coin.

The newly disclosed figures more than doubled the amount of Bitcoin previously attributed to SpaceX, making it one of the world's largest corporate holders of the digital asset.

The company's wallets were last active on a significant scale around six to seven months ago, when approximately 1,000 BTC at a time was moved between internal wallets and Coinbase Prime's custody service. Those transfers also remained entirely within SpaceX's control and were not connected to exchange deposits or sales.

With SpaceX's holdings combined with those of Tesla, founder Elon Musk now oversees more than 30,000 BTC through his two companies, reinforcing his position as one of the most prominent corporate figures with substantial exposure to Bitcoin.

For now, market observers are focused on one key signal: whether any future transfers send Bitcoin to exchange deposit addresses. Until that happens, the latest wallet activity appears to be nothing more than routine operational management rather than the start of a treasury sale.
