Bitcoin Eyes $80K as Ceasefire Boost and ETF Demand Fuel Risk-On Rally

Bitcoin has extended its recent rally, riding a wave of improving investor confidence across global markets as macro and geopolitical pressures begin to ease.

The world’s largest cryptocurrency is currently trading near $74,400, posting a solid 5% gain over the past 24 hours. Its steady climb mirrors a broader shift toward risk-on sentiment, with traditional markets also showing resilience—equities like the S&P 500 have pushed higher, while safe-haven assets such as gold have retreated.

Since late February, when tensions between the U.S. and Iran escalated, Bitcoin has gained roughly 13%, outperforming many traditional assets. While equities in the U.S. and Japan have seen modest gains, Bitcoin’s stronger upside suggests it is increasingly behaving as a hybrid asset—balancing both risk and safe-haven appeal depending on market conditions.

A key driver behind the rally appears to be easing geopolitical stress. A temporary two-week ceasefire agreement reached on April 8 between the U.S. and Iran has helped calm markets, reducing oil price volatility and easing broader risk-off pressure. Softer-than-expected U.S. inflation data has also contributed to renewed optimism, giving investors more confidence to re-enter risk assets.

Institutional demand is playing a major role in Bitcoin’s upward momentum. Spot Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S. have seen a notable resurgence, with hundreds of millions of dollars flowing in over the past week. This influx of capital signals continued interest from traditional finance players, helping absorb supply and stabilize price action.

Options market data further supports the improving outlook. Bearish positioning has declined significantly in recent sessions, indicating that traders are dialing back downside protection bets. While this points to reduced selling pressure, some caution remains, as volatility indicators suggest investors are not fully convinced the rally is risk-free.

Analysts note that the current move is largely driven by spot demand rather than leveraged speculation. Falling futures open interest and softer funding rates indicate a healthier market structure, with less reliance on excessive leverage.

Looking ahead, Bitcoin’s ability to hold above the $75,000 level could be pivotal. A sustained breakout may open the door toward $80,000, especially if ETF inflows and institutional participation remain strong. However, risks still linger. Sticky inflation, restrictive central bank policies, and the fragile nature of the Middle East truce could quickly shift sentiment and reintroduce volatility.

Despite the bullish momentum, market expectations for aggressive monetary easing remain muted. Prediction market data shows only a slim probability of significant rate cuts in the near term, highlighting that investors are still approaching the rally with caution.

For now, Bitcoin’s trajectory reflects a delicate balance—buoyed by improving macro conditions, yet still vulnerable to sudden shifts in global risk sentiment.
