Ark (ARK) was founded by 27 members from around the globe, via an ICO in December 2016. This raised 1,279.67 BTC valued at $998,000, below the target. Managing Director Mike Dulcie oversees the current team which come from 11 different countries. ARC is designed as a secure platform for mass adoption to deliver services that consumers desire and developers need.
ARK’s Smartbridge uses a delegated Proof of Stake (PoS) protocol communicating between blockchains, eg becoming an intermediary by implementing a small snippet of code to the original blockchain, utilising a special data section called Vendor Fields and special Encoded Listener nodes which trawl through the data looking for tasks to process.
ARC's Smartbridge is essentially a side-chain, providing the ability to connect and communicate between blockchains. For blockchain teams, this enables them to larger audience using Ark as the intermediary between chains, however that necessitates the blockchain being Smartbridge compatible – whether that is a wallet, exchange, FATOM (which enables easier and cheaper to store data on the blockchain).
