Sony’s Soneium Score Reinvents Web3 Engagement With Verified Contribution Rewards

Sony’s blockchain project, Soneium, has rolled out a next-generation activity tracking framework designed to redefine how value is recognized in the decentralized world. The new scoring system directly addresses one of Web3’s most persistent challenges—ensuring that rewards reflect genuine contributions rather than raw transaction volume.

The Soneium Score uses advanced algorithms to track verifiable on-chain actions, granting points for asset swaps, liquidity provision, staking, and NFT engagement. Unlike traditional token-based reward systems, this approach evaluates consistency, quality of activity, and ecosystem support. Participants can also unlock bonuses for holding NFTs and engaging with partner projects, offering a multi-layered view of user contributions.

Sony Block Solutions Labs (SBSL) built this Ethereum Layer 2 network following extensive trials, where over 14 million wallets joined before the official mainnet launch in January 2025. The platform now positions itself strategically within DeFi through integrations with Uniswap and AAVE, lowering adoption hurdles for developers while boosting utility for decentralized applications.

Season one of the program introduces Soulbound Token (SBT) badges to represent achievement levels, further gamifying engagement while ensuring rewards remain non-transferable and proof-based. With upcoming integrations across DeFi, gaming, and NFTs, the system marks a major shift in how blockchain ecosystems sustain long-term community participation.
